Job Description – QA Supervisor

                                                           

 

SUMMARY

 

Responsible for managing a group of QA resources and planning and executing the quality effort associated with IT implementations.  Ensure solutions have the appropriate quality level once migrated into production.  Plan, implement and follow software development process quality standards, methods and procedures. Participate with the business and lead the overall QA test effort for projects.  Support overall IT initiatives by aligning QA methodology and best practices. 

 

Interact with the business to obtain business quality requirements and have the ability to translate these requirements into a QA Test Plan, Test Scenarios and Test Cases. Develop and execute standard testing procedures which include the following test documents: Test Plan, Test Scenarios, Test Cases, Requirements Traceability Matrix and QA Close Out Summary Document.  Must be able to collect, analyze and present results oriented metrics derived from the QA group. Evaluate the software suitability for application placement into production.

 

Support users with User Acceptance Testing and act as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners. Document business and application issues and assist in their resolution.  Proficient with various QA tools (team track, TFS, QTP, LoadRunner) as required. 

 

Responsible for enforcing quality assurance standards and measures for the Information Technology services within GAF.  The IT QA Supervisor will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of business investments for IT initiatives.  In addition, apply QA best practices where applicable. Responsible for managing QA resources and scheduling work. Ensure adherence to QA processes, review and creation of test plans, reviewing test documentation, and ensuring schedules are met. 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

45-50% Manage, develop, assess, and train staff.  Scheduling of work, ensuring adherence to QA processes, review work of QA testers and ensure schedules are met. 

 

45-50% Create and execute QA test plan, test scenarios and test cases.  Analyze and report QA results.  Interact with business to plan, document, and conduct appropriate QA testing.

 

5-10%  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Technical knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced)

 

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 9x/2000/XP operating systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Advanced knowledge of QA Testing Suites, i.e. Mercury LoadRunner, and performance testing tools
  • Strong experience in developing and conducting test processes for multiple types of systems, client users and/or units across an organization
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL a plus
  • Knowledge of IIS and web based application technology a plus
  • 45-50% Hands on testing is required

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field  (Experience can substitute for degree)
  • 10 years of Quality Assurance or Systems Development experience
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience inclusive of performing performance reviews of at least 2 employees
